Words of Wisdom

  • The large print giveth and the fine print taketh away
  • Always consider your emotions before your invest but never make an investment decision based on your emotions
  • Imagine driving across the bridge over the Hoover Dam, and it’s very wide, there’s no traffic, and it’s a perfectly clear day. Would you feel comfortable driving 100 miles an hour if I gave you a bunch of money? Most people will say yes. Now what if I take the barrier walls off the bridge, and it’s a 10,000 foot drop down? Most people will start freaking out, and would slow down to 5 miles an hour. The reality of the situation is that the overall risk is very high. If you have a crash going 100 miles an hour, you’re going to be seriously hurt regardless of if that barrier wall is there. A lot of people have a misunderstanding of what risk really is.
  • Hold up your finger. What do you think is the number one risk to your retirement account? Now point your finger at your own nose, because it’s you! You’re your own worst risk. The value of having an advisor is that we are there to be wise-counsel. Sometimes, our job requires us to tell you no, to disagree, to dissent. It’s always your money, though, and the decision is always based on the money.
